As a New York resident we’ve grown to expect quick service, and many selections.

It is the same with our lice removal business. To stay ahead you have to offer great customer service and convenience. To that end we have an upper east side, and an upper west side lice treatment center. Wherever you are, if you need lice treatment, we are not far.

We still offer in home lice removal, if that fits better into your schedule.

8 Mistakes You’re Making When Your Child Has Head Lice

Mistake #1: Ignoring the early warning signs of head lice.

Reality: If kids are scratching.. Go to your pediatrician, school nurse, or a lice center for a head check. If lice or nits are found, treat the child as quickly as possible.

Mistake #2: Keeping the news to yourself.

Reality: ‘Be A Friend…Tell A Friend’

You don’t want your child’s friends giving it right back to your (lice free) child.

Mistake #3: Thinking that your child or your house must be dirty.

Reality: Absolutely not!  A case of lice arises from head-to-head contact and has nothing to do with cleanliness. If anything, lice prefer clean hair.

Mistake #4: Assume all lice products work.

Reality: Many brands rely on pesticides to kill the lice, and the bugs have built up a resistance to them. Most home remedies are messy and time consuming. (mayonnaise, yuck!)

Instead, use a natural lice shampoo and a good lice comb to assist you in the treatment process.

Mistake #5: Shaving your child’s head.

Reality: Many boys (and certainly girls!) would be devastated to give up their locks of hair.  A good lice comb and some patience will save you many tears.

Mistake #6: Spring cleaning your whole house.

Reality:  Cleaning your house does little to eliminate your head lice problem. Lice cannot survive more than 24 hours off the head.  Concentrate on cleaning, bagging and using high heat on items that had direct contact with the child during the 24 hours prior to treatment.

Mistake #7: Treating your child once and skipping the maintenance.

Reality:  You should keep combing for 2 weeks after treatment.  It is normal to find scattered nits. With a little time for hair growth, a nit has now moved away from the scalp and has become visible.   You do not need to worry about stray nits hatching, if they have been dehydrated by the use of the AirAlle Device.

Mistake #8: Blaming your child’s school.

Reality:  Nobody is to blame when a child has head lice. Talk to the school nurse and work together to ensure that ALL children have a lice-free environment.

Don’t let lice get you down.

Dealing with head lice is part of parenting. Remain calm and explain to your child that this has nothing to do with cleanliness. Lice prefer clean hair. Although there are reliable lice products on the market, you can get help removing lice.

Lice Prevention – Proactive Measures

Teach your children that head lice spread  from head to head contact with an infested person. Combs, brushes, hats, and anything else that comes in contact with the head should not be shared.  Our oil repellent spray has peppermint oil in it. Lice don’t like its smell, and stay away.

Head Lice Nightmare

So you spent a lot of time, and you spent a lot of money and you still have head lice. Why?

Reason 1: You have contracted a new case.                                                                  Reason 2: You never got rid of it in the first place.

It is very easy to think you got rid of lice because the lice shampoo you used may have a high kill rate, and you are no longer seeing bugs. Just because you don’t see bugs does not mean you ended the lice life cycle.

A professional lice removal service  will be able to remove all the lice and eggs you might miss when trying to ger rid of lice on your own.
